100 Years Of Fun | Print |

Margate beach has been a best- loved Kwa Zulu Natal coastal destination for more
than 90 years. We have already shown how back in the 1920’s people were willing to travel more than 2 days and 2 nights to spend their holidays in Margate.   (by passing Durban). Today city dwellers flock to our shores in their thousands,  yet Margate maintains its’ cool and hard-won Blue Flag Status) and each year gives visitors a host of fun activities.

Margate beach is among the best in the world and flying the blue flag to prove it.

This recognises the excellence in cleanliness, safety, amenities and environmental  standards providing excellent swimming and a choice of uncrowded rideable  waves everywhere. Margate Beach is by far the Beach with the longest Blue Flag Status      in KZN.

Margate has been and always will be a family kind of place. Kids keep happy in the swimming   pools or go rock pooling before exploring the lagoon in paddle boats.

The hip and happening crowd hang out in the restaurants, shops and outdoor cafes overlooking the beach before partying the night away in clubs and bars.

Margate is greatful to the Surf Lifesaving Club, Beach Management Team and the National Sea Rescue Institute who make Margate Beach among the best in the world.

Each year Margate Beach offers our visitors a host of entertainment and fun activities and the Centenary Year is no exception. In December Margate Beach  is renowned for their Beauty Pageants, Dance Workshops, Talent Contests, Roadshows, Beach Festivals, Beach Sports and Musical Performances. From early December through to early January a great line up of entertainment is planned for visitors and locals alike.
