MARGATE CENTENARY 2010 BERNINA QUILT COMPETITION

Prizes worth more than R 20 000.00

 Show off your beautiful machine or hand quilted quilts in the Margate Centenary Quilt Competition. The Centenary Theme is CELEBRATE MARGATE.

 This year we have made the entry criteria affordable and flexible to ensure everyone can participate. Quilters will be required to submit a wall hanging. The 1^st prize quilts will be exhibited in the Margate Museum and/or Community Centres. All other quilts will be returned to their owners after the judging and prize giving. Prizes have been donated by Bernina South Coast now under new management and at their new premises in Umtentweni.

 Quilt Wall Hanging Entry Criteria

                No side may be shorter than 60cm or longer than 130cm

Each Quilt must have a wall hanger/sleeve and have at least 3 layers (quilt top, batting and backing.) Your choice of fabric and filling is not restricted. Quilts will be judged on their artistic merit, design and detail. Addition of beads, buttons and other objects is acceptable. Each quilt must have a label securely fastened to the back with the name of the quilter and contact details.

                                Your entry and entry form must be given to Corrie at the MBA Office in Margate or Wanita at the Bernina office in Umtentweni by no later than

31 May 2010.

The winners will be announced at Margate Beach on the 13^th June from 11h00 – 14h00.

Entrants will have the opportunity to sell their quilts in a “Crafts in the Park” setting on the grass banks at Margate Beach.
